McDonough School of Business' TeamMBA Recruiting Riders for the Lance Armstrong Foundation's LiveSTRONG Challenge

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Georgetown's TeamMBA is actively recruiting participants for the Lance Armstrong Foundation's (LAF) LiveSTRONG Challenge in Philadelphia on September 10, 2006. The LiveSTRONG Challenge is an annual series of events in different cities across the country, where participants support the LAF's mission to empower those suffering with cancer by walking, riding, or running.

The McDonough School of Business' chapter of Net Impact, an organization that brings MBAs, graduate students and young professionals together take action on socially-responsible business issues, along with the help of the Graduate Management Admissions Council (GMAC), created TeamMBA. TeamMBA includes current MBA students at McDonough, in addition to alumni, friends, and family. The team hopes to send at least hundred participants to the LiveSTRONG Challenge and convey the message that they are committed to fighting cancer and creating a better world through business.

To register for Team MBA or for more information about the group, visit http://students.msb.edu/teammba/. Last year, seventy people participated and raised close to $100,000.

Team captain David Lee (MBA'07) describes LiveSTRONG's unique goal as one of utmost importance because of the growing number of cancer sufferers around the world. He notes, "the numbers are shocking to discover how many people are affected by cancer. The LiveStrong Challenge personifies Lance Armstrong's dedication and determination, both to fighting the disease that affected him and millions of others as well as his sport of cycling."

T
he LiveSTRONG Challenge will take place in Philadelphia, Pa. on September 10, 2006. Participants are encouraged to support the fight against cancer in any way possible and are provide several opportunities. Participants can sign up for a 5K walk, a 5K or 10K run, or even 10, 40, 70, or 100 mile ride. And yes, participants have a chance to ride with Lance Armstrong, the seven-time Tour de France winner.
